Horticulture sector secures $28m in projected deals at FoodAg 2025

KARACHI: The horticulture sector secured $28 million in projected fruit and vegetable deals at FoodAg Pakistan 2025, industry representatives said at a press conference hosted by the Pakistan Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association (PFVEA) in Karachi.

The event was addressed by Waheed Ahmed, patron-in-chief of the Pakistan Fruit and Vegetable Exporters, Importers and Merchants Association (PFVA), PFVEA Chairperson Aslam Pakhali, and senior officials from the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) and Pakistan Horticulture Development and Export Company (PHDEC).

According to TDAP Secretary Sheryar Taj, the exhibition drew more than 850 international buyers from over 80 countries and generated $730 million in total projected business. He said horticulture accounted for $28 million of this, supported by 5,700 curated B2B meetings.

PHDEC CEO Athar Hussain Khokhar said the 120 horticulture exhibitors presented a range of fresh and processed produce, including dates, mango pulp, citrus, potatoes and onions. He added that SPS dialogues and field visits held on the sidelines of the event had helped address regulatory issues in some markets.

Industry representatives noted attendance from buyers in Turkey, China, the UK, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, Canada and the Middle East, as well as delegations from Europe, Africa and Latin America.

Activities alongside the exhibition included a seminar on olive value chains, the SPS and quarantine meetings with several countries, a global cuisine show featuring international chefs using local produce, and post-event visits to orchards and processing facilities.PFVEA and PFVA officials said they would continue working with TDAP and PHDEC in preparation for FoodAg 2026.
