The process of appointing chairman to the Higher Education Commission (HEC) has entered its final phase, as the selection committee has shortlisted 30 candidates for interviews after scrutinising the documents of nearly 500 applicants. According to officials, HEC Section Officer Karishma Mir sent interview letters to candidates via WhatsApp on Thursday, summoning them for interviews on November 26 and 27 at the Committee Room of the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training.
From Sindh, only three candidates have made it to the interview stage: Dr Sarosh Hashmat Lodi, Dr Madad Ali Shah, and Dr Saleem Raza Samoon. The remaining shortlisted candidates include Dr Mohammad Ali Shah, Dr Niaz, Dr Habib, Dr Jamil Ahmed, Dr Ziaul Qayyum, Dr Haider Abbas, Dr Rubina Farooq and Dr Zahoor Bazai. A nine-member search committee will conduct interviews of the 30 shortlisted candidates over two days.
The committee is chaired by Federal Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui. Other members of the committee include Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training Wajiha Qamar, Dr Aurangzeb, Arif Saeed, Salman Akhtar, Apex Committee Secretary Jehanzaib Khan, Aga Khan University Provost Dr Anjum Halai, Dr Mohammad Naseem Qaisrani, while Secretary of Federal Education and Professional Training Nadeem Mehboob will serve as member/secretary of the committee.
