The ad-hoc administration of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) has approved the appointment of a new executive director (ED) in the absence of a regular chairman.
Vice Chancellor Khyber Medical University Dr Zia-ul-Haq has been appointed as the new ED for a tenure of four years. The approval was granted in a meeting of the HEC Commission.
In the meeting, four candidates were considered: Vice Chancellor University of Sargodha Dr Qaiser Abbas, Vice Chancellor Khyber Medical University Dr Zia-ul-Haq, Vice Chancellor Aror University Dr Zahid Khand, and Pakistan Science Foundation’s Dr Shahid Baig.
The acting chairman/secretary of education informed the meeting that Dr Zahid Khand and Dr Shahid Baig had clearance issues. Consequently, the names of D. Qaiser Abbas and Dr Zia-ul-Haq were deliberated upon, after which consensus was reached on appointing Dr Zia-ul-Haq as the executive director.
