Attack repulsed in Bannu, 2 terrorists killed in Swabi

BANNU/SWABI: Suspected militants attacked the police station in the Bakkakhel area of Bannu late Sunday which was repulsed while police killed two terrorists in the Swabi district.

According to police sources the policemen deployed at the police station in Bannu responded to the attack swiftly forcing the attackers to flee the scene.

They said no police casualties were reported due to the timely response by the force.

The area was cordoned off soon after the assault and a search operation was launched.

Deputy Inspector General of Bannu Region Sajjad Khan and District Police Officer Saleem Abbas Kalachi commended the personnel for effective retaliation.

Security forces and police are keeping a close coordination to maintain law and order in the area, while the public has been urged to immediately report any suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station. In another incident, two terrorists were killed during an operation in Swabi. A police official said Counter-Terrorism Department Mardan Region and Swabi Police conducted a successful intelligence-based operation in Ajmer Shah hilly area of Topi district, Swabi, and killed two wanted terrorists. He said the terrorists riding a bike opened fire on CTD and Swabi police. The cops retaliated and killed both of them. The slain terrorists were identified as Noman alias Manay and Abdul Basit, residents of Swabi. The slain terrorists were wanted in the martyrdom of constables Zahid and Jamaluddin.
