Asif Ali Zardari, president of Pakistan and chief scout Pakistan, has appointed National Council Member Chaudhry Muhammad Riaz as the acting chief commissioner of the Pakistan Boy Scouts Association in place of Chief Commissioner Sarfraz Qamar Daha with immediate effect.
Deputy Military Secretary of the President’s Office Lieutenant Colonel Naoman Nazir has issued a notification for the appointment of Muhammad Riaz as senior member of the National Council of Pakistan Boy Scouts Association.
On Monday, Riaz assumed charge of his post. The president has directed him to hold fresh elections for the chief commissioner within 60 days. The removed commissioner Sarfraz Qamar Daha says that according to the Pakistan Boys Scout Association Act, the president does not have the authority to remove the chief commissioner. If the commissioner is removed for any reason, then the deputy commissioner is given charge in his place. He says he will go to court against this “illegal” appointment.
