On the Sindh Higher Education Commission’s (SHEC) recommendation, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has approved increasing the salaries of finance directors at public universities of the province.

According to the official notification issued by Universities & Boards Section Officer Kamal Ahmed, the salary under MP scale II has been increased to Rs448,280, with Rs263,180 as basic salary, Rs95,700 for house rent, Rs11,970 for utilities and Rs77,430 as monetisation. The decision will be implemented immediately.

SHEC Chairman Prof Dr Tariq Rafi had sent a summary to the CM to state that finance directors do not join many universities or refuse to join due to low salary package. To fill this gap, the government appointed several finance directors from the waiting list on the search committee’s recommendation.

According to the summary, keeping in mind the importance of the post and to retain qualified people, Dr Rafi again requested that the CM fix the salary of finance director at least Rs500,000.
