ISLAMABAD: The government was forced to give a free hand to Islamabad IG Ali Nasir Rizvi to clear the D-Chowk after PTI protesters repulsed the police.

It was decided at the highest level that Islamabad will be cleared of miscreants on Tuesday night. The Rangers forced the PTI workers at D Chowk to flee in just half an hour. The interior and information ministers held a press conference at D Chowk and announced the return of Gandapur. In order to surround the miscreants, the Islamabad administration ordered the markets to be closed. The IG called in fresh security personnel, which were ordered to evacuate Islamabad on Tuesday night. Rangers and 1,500 police personnel fired teargas shells and rubber bullets to force the protesters to flee.
