At least four buses worth millions of rupees, along with other goods, were reduced to ashes in a fire incident in the city on Friday.

A fire broke out in buses parked at a parking yard near a bus terminal in Yusuf Goth on Baldia Hub River Road. The blaze quickly intensified, sending thick black smoke billowing across the area, which was visible from a long distance. The fire soon spread to other nearby buses.

A spokesperson for Rescue 1122 said that upon receiving information, fire and rescue teams, along with ambulances and fire tenders, rushed to the scene and initiated firefighting operations. Officials of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Fire Brigade stated that after one and a half hours of strenuous efforts using two fire vehicles, the fire was brought under control. However, four high-value buses were completely gutted. The exact cause of the fire could not be determined immediately.

Meanwhile, another fire erupted at a plot located on Street No 3 in Urdu Bazaar. Fire brigade personnel reached the site promptly and managed to extinguish the blaze after half an hour of effort. According to fire officials, a saw machine and stacks of wood stored at the plot were completely burned. The cause of the fire and the extent of losses could not be ascertained immediately.
