LAHORE:The Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA), in collaboration with the Embassy of Hungary in Pakistan and the Bank of Punjab, organised a commemorative plaque unveiling ceremony at Lahore Fort in honour of the renowned Hungarian painter Agoston Schoefft, whose historic paintings hold significant cultural and historical value.
The ceremony was attended by HE Zoltan Varga, Ambassador of Hungary to Pakistan, along with Director General WCLA, Najmussaqib, senior government officials, diplomats, historians, academics, cultural experts, and representatives from various institutions.
The event aimed to further strengthen cultural relations between Pakistan and Hungary and promote cooperation in the fields of heritage conservation, history, arts, and cultural exchange.
The historic paintings of Agoston Schoefft displayed at Lahore Fort remained the focal point of the ceremony, attracting considerable interest from participants. During the event, attendees were informed that Schoefft’s valuable paintings were professionally restored in 2021 by Hungarian restoration experts. The restoration project was completed through a collaborative effort between the Embassy of Hungary in Islamabad, the Bank of Punjab, and the Walled City of Lahore Authority.
