ABBOTTABAD: The T20 Blind Cricket Super League got underway here on Monday to select the national squad for the upcoming Blind Cricket Asia Cup scheduled to be held in Dhaka from November 14 to 20.
Abbottabad Deputy Commissioner Sarmad Saleem Akram inaugurated the T20 Blind Cricket Super League organised by the Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBCC) for the selection of Pakistan’s national squad for the Second Blind Cricket Asia Cup.
The ceremony brought together figures from the sports and education sectors, including PBCC Chairman Syed Sultan Shah, Director Finance Dr Anwar Ali Sial, Principal Abbottabad Public School Prof Akhtar Qureshi, President Abbottabad Blind Cricket Club Tajammal Hussain Danish, Finance Secretary Muhammad Bilal, the District Sports Officer, and players representing Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh and Balochistan.
Addressing the participants, Deputy Commissioner Sarmad Saleem Akram said that Abbottabad took pride in hosting talented players from all over the country.
He said that the super league would not only play a crucial role in identifying the strongest national squad for the upcoming Asia Cup but would also contribute to the promotion and development of blind cricket in Pakistan.
The official assured the PBCC leadership that the district administration would extend full support to ensure quality arrangements and facilities for the visiting teams.Emphasizing the spirit of sportsmanship, he urged the players to exhibit dedication, discipline, and excellence on the field so that Pakistan could be represented by its finest talent at the international level.PBCC Chairman Syed Sultan Shah informed the audience that 56 of the country’s top blind cricketers were participating in the tournament.
