PESHAWAR: Rescue 1122 Malakand has called on residents to remain alert and adopt precautionary measures after authorities warned of possible Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOF), flash floods and related weather hazards in upper parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The warning follows an advisory issued by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) in view of forecasts of heavy rainfall in northern and upper regions beginning from the evening of June 13.

The expected weather conditions may increase the risk of glacial lake overflow, rapid flooding in local streams and seasonal waterways, and incidents of landslides in vulnerable areas.
