Exhausted nurses

Nursing students spend long hours in wards, often without proper breaks or rest. We are expected to manage patients, complete assigned tasks and follow strict instructions, sometimes under stressful conditions. In many wards, there are no designated areas for students to sit and we are required to stand for long hours while working, which becomes extremely exhausting. There are days when we barely get time to sit or even eat properly. Despite this, our efforts are often overlooked. This continuous pressure not only affects our health but also impacts our learning and confidence. When students are exhausted, it becomes difficult to focus and provide the best care to patients. There is a need for better support for nursing students. Proper break times, respectful behaviour from staff and a more understanding environment can make a big difference. After all, today’s students are tomorrow’s healthcare professionals. I hope this issue will be acknowledged and steps will be taken to improve the situation.
