Given the economic crises that the country is going through, the authorities need to ensure that the burden of the upcoming budget is not borne by ordinary people alone. Thus far, it is the humble majority that has taken the brunt of austerity and revenue measures in the annual budgets. Many people in Pakistan are already paying a lot of tax and are under financial stress due to the high inflation rates. If taxes are to be hiked again, it must be done in a way that does not worsen the problems of ordinary people. The burden must be spread more evenly. I hope the government will keep in mind the needs of the people while developing the budget.
