KARACHI: Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Folio3, a US-headquartered AI technology company with a global delivery footprint, to leverage artificial intelligence for more efficient upstream oil and gas operations, the company said on Tuesday.
The MoU was signed by PPL Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Mohammad Khalid Rehman and Folio3 Chief Executive Officer Adnan Lawai, in the presence of Brigadier (r) Ajaz Ahmad Khan HI (M), General Manager Shared Services at PPL, along with other officials from both companies, on 9 June at PPL’s head office.
The collaboration will explore applications of AI across key operational and business functions, including drilling optimisation, exploration, predictive maintenance and enterprise operations. By leveraging Folio3’s AI capabilities, the partnership aims to accelerate the practical adoption of artificial intelligence and drive innovation across operations.The initiative aligns with PPL’s commitment to contributing towards a smarter and more sustainable energy future for Pakistan, the company said.
