Albania seeks stronger trade, investment ties with Pakistan: envoy

Islamabad:Albania, a Muslim-majority Balkan nation on the path to European Union membership, is seeking to deepen trade and investment ties with Pakistan and expand training opportunities for its officials through Pakistani institutions.

This was stated by Tahseen Sayed, Honourary Consul for Albania in Pakistan, after a meeting with Ferit Hoxha, Albania’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs. Hoxha expressed Albania’s strong interest in further developing relations with Pakistan, especially for expansion trade, promoting tourism and seeking training opportunities for Albanian officials in higher institutions of administrative training.

Both also discussed a number of practical initiatives to advance cooperation, including initiation of consultations between senior officials of the respective ministries of Foreign Affairs, potential participation of Albanian Foreign Ministry officials in professional training programs in Islamabad, holding of trade exhibitions, IT and the participation of Albanian officials, parliamentarians and civil society representatives in specialised events organised by Pakistani institutions. Tahseen also held meetings with representatives of Albanian private sector, academic and research institutions.
