Sindh Rangers and the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) police on Thursday conducted a joint intelligence-based operation in Nazimabad and Gulbahar areas against members of the notorious Jameel Chhanga gang, allegedly involved in extortion activities.
According to a Rangers spokesperson, the suspects opened fire on law enforcement personnel during the operation. In the ensuing exchange of fire, a highly wanted suspect, Sikandar alias Babar Kalia, was killed, while another suspect, Asad alias Lallu, was arrested in an injured condition. A third suspect, Zohaib alias Shah Sahib, was taken into custody without resistance.
Officials said weapons and ammunition were recovered from the arrested suspects. Authorities stated that Sikandar alias Babar Kalia was a habitual offender who had previously been arrested in an encounter with the CTD and had served time in prison. Investigators alleged that the slain suspect was recently involved in firing incidents in Nazimabad.
