ALPURI: Six children were killed and one injured after a room of a mud-built house collapsed in the Rahimabad area of Kuz Alpuri, Shangla district, early Tuesday, officials said.
The incident occurred at around 2:00am when a room in a two-room mud house suddenly caved in. Seven children were inside at the time and became trapped under the debris.
According to local sources, the house was hosting guests on the night of the incident. Three of the victims were children of the host family, while four others had come from a neighboring household as guests.
Rescue 1122 officials said all seven children were pulled out from the debris. However, six of them had already succumbed to injuries.
One child was rescued alive and shifted to a hospital. The injured child was identified as Marwa, daughter of Jahan Bashar. She was reported to be out of danger.
The deceased were identified as Nazira Bibi, daughter of Jahan Bashar, Samira Bibi, daughter of Amir Dad, Rizwan, son of Fazal Wadood, Nayab, daughter of Muhammad Hassan, Haya Noor, daughter of Daud and Umaira, daughter of Fazal Wadud. The victims were between four and fifteen years of age. After completion of legal formalities, the bodies were handed over to the families for burial.
