17 killed, 5 injured in Swat motorway accident

MARDAN: At least 17 passengers were killed and five others injured in a road accident on the Swat Motorway at Khuro Koti when a speeding coach collided with a bus, police, Rescue 1122, and Mardan Medical Complex sources said on Monday.

The sources said that a passenger coach heading towards Swat collided with a bus parked on the roadside near Khuro Koti on the Swat Motorway. As a result, 17 passengers lost their lives. Motorway police and Rescue 1122 teams reached the spot and shifted the dead bodies and injured to Mardan Medical Complex.

The deceased were identified as Adnan Khan, Abdullah, Rafiq Khan, Inamullah, Zaheenullah, Dilawar Khan, Fazl-e-Subhan, Sher Bacha, Yaseen (resident of Upper Dir), Musa Muhammad, Said Nawab (resident of Lower Dir), Muhammad Azhar-ud-Din (resident of Chitral), Bahar Ali (resident of Charsadda), Nazir Muhammad (resident of Buner), Naik Amal (resident of Bajaur), and two persons whose identities could not be established immediately.

Five passengers were injured. They were identified as Muhammad Iqbal and Iqbal (residents of Upper Dir), Zain-ul-Amin (resident of Talash, Lower Dir), Tahir, and Saifullah (resident of Lower Dir).
