LAHORE: The Pakistan Wrestling Federation (PWF) is holding trials here to finalize the national squad for the 20th Asian Games, scheduled to take place in Aichi–Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4, 2026.

The trials are taking place at the Shami Road, Fortress Stadium (Gate No. 4). According to the PWF, the event is strictly for athletes who have been nominated by their respective units and hold valid accreditation as per the federation’s circular issued in February.

The selection process covers four weight categories: 65kg, 74kg, 86kg, and 97kg, with a 2kg tolerance allowed for each class.

The PWF has issued strict guidelines regarding player conduct and appearance. Wrestlers are required to report to the mat in proper kit and wrestling shoes. The federation has made it mandatory for athletes to be clean-shaven, have neatly trimmed nails, and prohibited the use of any greasing substances on the body.

Team managers have been tasked with ensuring discipline both on and off the mat. Travel and daily allowances for the participants are being provided as per PWF rules.

Muhammad Inam, Secretary General of the PWF, is overseeing the coordination for the event. The federation has appealed to all units and officials to ensure the selection process is conducted smoothly and fairly in the best interest of national wrestling.
