Lahore gears up for cricket elections

LAHORE: After the recent scrutiny process of Lahore cricket clubs and formation of five zones Lahore clubs have started their campaign for the coming elections of the zones as well as Lahore Region.

In this regard 26 clubs from the newly formed Cantt Zone pledged their support to the Malik Muhammad Aslam Dogar-led alliance.

In this regard Wasif Zaman and Ahmed Ayaz Khan hosted a dinner the other day to pledged their support to the Malik Muhammad Aslam Dogar-led alliance.

The event drew club presidents and senior organisers from across the Cantt Zone and featured the formal endorsement of a joint panel that includes Bilal Muqeet, Wasif Zaman, Shahrez Abdullah Khan Rokri and Ahmed Ayaz Khan. East Zone officials and several former LRCA office-bearers attended, signalling a broad base of backing for the group’s election bid.

Speakers at the dinner outlined a platform focused on youth development, infrastructure upgrades and restoring Lahore’s competitive standing. Wasif Zaman, President of Prince Cricket Club, said the Cantt Zone launch marked the start of a city-wide campaign that will prioritise elite pathways for young cricketers. Former LRCA president Shahrez Rokri pledged an inclusive approach, promising to bring all stakeholders into planning and decision-making if the panel is elected.

Several club leaders praised recent initiatives that, they said, had created opportunities for emerging talent.
