KARACHI: Pakistan Sports Board has requested to the Secretary Ministry of IPC that the grant to Pakistan Tennis Federation may not be disbursed through re-appropriation.
It has been learnt that PTF failed to submit audited accounts and misused (with unauthorized diversion of government assistance) the finances in violation of applicable regulations. According to details, PSB in a letter to Secretary PTF stated that the matter regarding the grants amounting to Rs. 41,252,072 during the financial years 2022-23, 2023-24, and 2024-25 was examined by the Internal Auditor of the PSB.
“It has been found that despite the lapse of considerable time (well beyond the 30-day adjustment period) the federation has neither submitted adjustment accounts nor provided any supporting documents (original receipts, invoices, or vouchers) for the grants received.
“Consequently, the entire amount of Rs. 41,252,072 remains outstanding and unreconciled. This constitutes a serious violation of Regulations 4(6), 5(4), 12(4), and 12(9) of SFURP 2025, Rule 16(7) and Rule 21(1)(iii) and (v) of the PSB Constitution 2022, and Clause 5(iii) and 5(xii) of PCEGS,” stated the letter.
In view of the above, the PSB letter added, the outstanding amount of Rs. 41,252,072 should be adjusted against the federation’s grant entitlement for the financial year 2025-26 and accordingly any grant sanctioned to the federation in FY 2025-26 should first be applied to liquidate this outstanding liability. “The Federation is advised to utilize all future grants strictly in accordance with SFURP 2025, ensure all financial accounts are operated with at least two authorized signatories per Regulation 12(2) of SFURP 2025, and publish audited financial statements as required under Regulations 12(6) and 12(7) of SFURP 2025,” directed the PSB.
