ISLAMABAD: The stage is set for an exciting showdown as 16 top teams from across the country gear up for the 55th Senior Men’s National Volleyball Championship 2026, which gets underway at POF Wah from Monday.
The prestigious national event is expected to feature high-intensity clashes and showcase Pakistan’s finest volleyball talent, with departmental giants and provincial outfits battling for top honours.
Ahead of the championship, the General Technical Meeting was held at the Sports Directorate, POF Wah Cantt, under the supervision of Director Admin Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) MB Javed.
The meeting was attended by senior volleyball officials, including Khalid Waqar, Secretary Executive Committee Referee Board PVF, Qaisar Bhatti, Secretary Sports POF, and Naseer Ahmed, Director Technical PVF. Team managers, coaches and referees also participated in the session where championship rules, technical matters and pool draws were finalized.
According to the draws, defending heavyweights have been placed in highly competitive groups promising enthralling contests right from the opening day.
Pool A: Wapda, ASF, Police, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Pool B: PAF, Islamabad, Balochistan, AJK
Pool C: Navy, Punjab, Sindh, Gilgit-Baltistan
Pool D: Army, POF, Railway, HEC
Traditional powerhouses including Army, Wapda, Navy and PAF are once again among the favourites for the coveted title, while emerging provincial teams are expected to challenge strongly and add further excitement to the tournament.
Officials expressed confidence that the championship would not only provide quality entertainment to volleyball enthusiasts but also help identify fresh talent for future national assignments.
