ISLAMABAD: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi has termed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cricket League (KCL) a major platform for emerging cricketers, expressing confidence that the league would emerge as a successful venture under the patronage and support of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PSB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi.

Speaking at the soft-launching ceremony of the KCL in Islamabad, Governor Kundi said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa possessed immense sporting talent, particularly in cricket, and stressed that the province had consistently produced quality players for the national circuit.

He pointed out that seven members of the Pakistan Super League title-winning Peshawar Zalmi squad belonged to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which, according to him, reflected the region’s rich reservoir of cricketing talent. “The soft image of Pakistan can best be projected through sports,” Kundi remarked, adding that healthy sporting activities not only promote young talent but also help foster national unity and international goodwill. The Governor further assured full encouragement for constructive sporting initiatives, saying that the doors of the Governor House would always remain open for positive and youth-oriented activities.

CEO of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Champions League Sohail Ahmed Kundi said the league would provide a strong platform for talented youngsters across the province to showcase their abilities and move forward in professional cricket. Former Test cricketers Yasir Shah and Yasir Hameed, along with other notable personalities from the cricket fraternity, also attended the ceremony.
