LAKKI MARWAT: A woman was allegedly shot dead by her husband in the Wanda Michenkhel area of Lakki Marwat in a suspected case of so-called honour killing, police said on Saturday.
According to officials at Dadiwala Police Station, the victim’s brother, Qismatullah, lodged a complaint stating that his sister had been married to the accused, Rehmatullah, for the last three years and the couple had two children - a son and a daughter.
The complainant alleged that the suspect doubted his wife’s character and accused her of having illicit relations with one of his relatives.
He allegedly opened fire on her, killing her on the spot.
Officials said the accused fled the area after the incident, while the body was shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Serai Naurang for medico-legal formalities before being handed over to the family.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the law, and further investigation is underway, they added.
