ISLAMABAD: Punjab emerged as the overall champions of the Special Olympics Pakistan National Games 2026, winning 12 gold and 13 silver medals at the prestigious event held at the Jinnah Stadium, Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad.
Sindh secured second position with an impressive tally of 9 gold and 10 silver medals, while the Federal Area finished third after claiming 8 gold and 9 silver medals.
The closing ceremony was attended by Federal Secretary for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) and Director General Pakistan Sports Board, Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, who graced the occasion as the chief guest and distributed medals among the winning athletes. He was accompanied by CEO Special Olympics Pakistan Ronak Lakhani, former DG Pakistan Sports Board Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera, Secretary Islamabad Olympic Association Rizwan-ul-Haq Razi, and other distinguished guests.
On the final day of the Games, In the 200m Men Final Plus C category, Sindh’s Ahmed Rajab won the gold medal with a timing of 28.01 seconds, while Punjab’s M. Adil Khan and Tayyab Waheed secured second and third positions respectively.
The 800m Level B event saw Mohammad Jabir of Balochistan clinch gold with a timing of 2:41.88, while M. Wasif of Federal and Arslan Aftab of Sindh secured silver and bronze medals respectively. In the women’s 800m Level C category, Sindh athletes dominated the podium as Sana won gold, Nosheen Bano claimed silver, and Tabassum secured bronze.
In the Shot Put category, Basit Ali of KPK produced an outstanding throw of 8.47 metres to clinch first position. Punjab’s M. Usman took silver, while Humayun Aslam of Federal earned bronze.
