PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Friday paid rich tribute to the martyrs of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the welfare and support of their families.

He was speaking at a ceremony, “Tribute to our valiant police martyrs,” held at the Governor’s House.The ceremony was attended by the leader of the opposition in the KP Assembly, Dr Ibadullah, members of the provincial assembly, Commissioner, Peshawar Division, Riaz Khan Mehsud, DIG Welfare KP Police Sher Akbar, CCPO Dr Mian Saeed, and a large number of families of police martyrs. The governor distributed commemorative shields among the heirs of martyrs in recognition of the sacrifices rendered by KP Police in the fight against terrorism.

Addressing the ceremony, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi said the sacrifices of KP Police in the war against terrorism had made the entire nation proud and would never be forgotten. He said the day was dedicated to honouring sacrifice, courage, and resilience.

He said the brave personnel of KP Police had remained on the frontlines in the long and difficult war against terrorism and had illuminated the path to peace with their blood.The governor said attempts were being made to destabilize the country through India-backed Fitna al-Khawarij, but such malicious acts could never weaken the resolve of the nation and security institutions.

He said the armed forces of Pakistan, under the leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, had given a befitting response to the enemy a year ago, raising the pride of Pakistanis across the world.

Kundi said KP Police, security forces, and the entire nation stood united like a solid wall against terrorism. He added that police personnel had rendered immense sacrifices over the past year, and the ceremony was aimed at assuring the families of martyrs that the state, government, and the entire nation stood with them.

The governor said KP Police had not only played a remarkable role in the war against terrorism but had also proved its professional capabilities in maintaining law and order across the province.DIG Welfare KP Police Sher Akbar also addressed the ceremony and appreciated the Governor for organising the event in honour of police martyrs and their families.
