Five held for running illegal trade

LAHORE:The FIA has busted an Afghan group allegedly involved in illegal hawala/hundi operations in Lahore.According to an FIA spokesperson, significant progress has been made in case No. 54/2026 being investigated by the Commercial Banking Circle, Lahore.

During initial interrogation of two arrested Afghan nationals, key disclosures led to the arrest of three more suspects, identified as Talha and Afghan nationals Najeeb and Naqeeb. Officials said account ledgers, deposit slips and other relevant documents were recovered from the suspects’ possession.

A Pakistani passport belonging to the father of accused Najeeb and Naqeeb was also seized during the operation. The suspects allegedly linked to an international hawala/hundi network. Investigators have expanded the probe to trace facilitators and financial linkages associated with the group.
