Karachi: Chinese automaker Chery is expanding its presence in Pakistan’s SUV market as demand increasingly shifts towards fuel-efficient and hybrid vehicles amid rising fuel costs.

Chery, a leading Chinese vehicle exporter operating in over 130 markets with more than 19 million global users, is positioning itself in Pakistan through Chery Master Pakistan, a venture of Master Auto Engineering, part of the Master Group.

The company is introducing a range of SUVs, including plug-in hybrid models, as the local market gradually moves towards alternative and more efficient mobility solutions.

Globally, Chery has ranked among the top performers in JD Power China’s Initial Quality Study between 2023 and 2025 and has received multiple recognitions across quality and customer satisfaction benchmarks.

In Pakistan, the brand is assembling models including the Tiggo 7, Tiggo 8 and Tiggo 9 PHEVs, targeting different SUV segments as hybrid adoption grows. The company said that the expansion comes as Pakistani consumers increasingly prioritise fuel economy and long-term ownership costs, with hybrid vehicles emerging as a transitional option between conventional and electric mobility.
