PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Tuesday summoned officials of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and police over an alleged late-night raid on a house in Kohat and the detention of a citizen.

A single-member bench comprising Justice SM Attique Shah heard a petition filed against the alleged raid and detention.During the hearing, counsel for petitioner Tahir Fareed informed the court that his client was taken into custody from his house at around midnight. He alleged that personnel of the local police and CTD had conducted the raid.

The lawyer said police officials had initially informed the family about the raid but were now expressing ignorance about the incident. He further told the court that the petitioner possessed CCTV footage of the raid, which was presented before the bench. After viewing the footage, the chief justice remarked that the faces of the officials appearing in the video were clearly visible. “If these are police officials, then the advocate general’s office should produce them before the court,” he observed.

The court later issued a written order directing the SP in-charge CTD Kohat to appear along with the relevant record. The SHO of Police Station Bilitang, Kohat, and the officials visible in the video were also ordered to appear before the court.

According to the written order, the petitioner had submitted a USB containing the footage during the hearing, which had been made part of the court record. The court also directed the additional advocate general to ensure the presence of the relevant officials at the next hearing, while further proceedings were adjourned.
