Islamabad: The Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission has forecast the likelihood of Eidul Azha falling on May 27.

According to it, the Zilhajj 1447 AH moon is expected to be born on May 17 at 1:01 am, with favourable chances of crescent sighting later that evening, especially along coastal areas. If the moon is sighted as predicted, the first of Zilhajj will fall on May 18 and the 10th (the first day of the three-day meaty Eidul Azha festival) on May 27. The final announcement regarding the start of the final month in the Islamic calendar and Eidul Azha will be made by the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee.
