SUKKUR: A wedding party bus overturned near Shikarpur on Sunday, leaving five people dead and 18 others injured, including the bride and groom
The wedding party bus carrying Channa community members was returning from Usta Muhammad in Balochistan to village Ramzan Channo in Mirpur Buriro when it overturned and fell into a water-filled ditch on Humayun Sharif road near Mian Sahib. The accident occurred after the tie-rod of the bus broke.
The deceased were identified as Muneer Ahmed Channo, Zahoor Ahmed Channo, Mureed, Nabi Bux Channa and a child Saira, d/o Muhammad Nawaz.
Following the accident, Rescue 1122 and Mian Sahib police reached the site and shifted the injured to Jacobabad and Shikarpur hospitals.
The police arranged a crane to pull the bus out of the ditch. Further investigation into the accident is under way.
In a separate accident, 17-year-old Farhan Ali Mashori and his sister Dua Batool were killed, while their mother Zahida Khatoon sustained critical injuries when a truck hit their motorcycle near Tando Masti in Khairpur. The dead and the injured were shifted to Civil Hospital, Khairpur.
Economic Zone police have taken the truck into custody and started an investigation.
