Court approves plea bargain of 2 accused in Kohistan scandal

PESHAWAR: An accountability court here on Thursday approved and verified the plea bargain applications of two accused in the Upper Kohistan financial scandal case.

The hearing was conducted by Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Zafar.Lawyers for the accused, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) investigation officer, and NAB deputy prosecutor general Muhammad Ali appeared before the court.

During the proceedings, the DPG informed the court that the accused - a contractor, Sartaj Khan, and oil depot owner Mushtaq Ahmad - had submitted plea bargain applications to the NAB. He said that Sartaj Khan, a contractor involved in financial transactions linked to the Kohistan scandal, had offered a plea bargain worth Rs220 million, which had already been approved by the NAB chairman.

Similarly, accused Mushtaq Ahmad, owner of an oil depot, submitted a plea bargain request amounting to Rs21.1 million, which was also approved by the NAB chairman. The prosecution prayed the court to formally verify the plea bargain agreements, after which the Accountability Court approved the applications of both the accused.
