LAHORE:The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has warned the government and citizens about the possible worst weather conditions during May, June and July.
According to the PDMA spokesperson, above-normal rainfall and temperature were expected in the province during the next three months. Above-normal rainfall was predicted in northern and northwestern Punjab while rainfall was predicted to be slightly below normal in eastern Punjab. Normal rainfall was expected in areas of central Punjab. According to the PDMA, temperatures were likely to be above-normal across the province during May while heat wave and extreme heat have been predicted in most districts of Punjab from May 7 to 11.
The PDMA spokesperson said a letter has already been sent to various departments including local government, environment, health, forests, tourism, transport and education while commissioners, deputy commissioners, police, WASA and Rescue 1122 have also been directed to remain alert.
