LAHORE:Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari has announced province-wide celebrations from May 8 (tomorrow) to May 10 (Sunday) in connection with the Marka-e-Haq.
Speaking to the media outside the Punjab Assembly here on Wednesday, the minister said that the past year had been marked by remarkable success, during which the Pakistan Army, in the Marka-e-Haq, forced an enemy three times its size to surrender within a matter of hours.
The minister paid tribute to the martyrs of the Pakistan Army on behalf of herself and Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, announcing that the day marking the enemy’s defeat in the Marka-e-Haq would be celebrated as a national festivity.
She said that as part of the celebrations, a grand concert would be held at Liberty Roundabout on the night between May 8 and 9.Patriotic songs will be performed to convey to the world that the Pakistani nation never forgets its martyrs and war heroes.
Meanwhile, Commissioner Marryam Khan said Marka-e-Haq celebrations will be held in a grand manner, adding Marka-e-Haq is among the golden battles of ‘our glorious history.’ A meeting was held under the chairpersonship of the commissioner regarding the arrangements for the Marka-e-Haq events.
The district administration said a main committee has been formed under ADCG Lahore for the arrangements. The main event in the 8th May Lahore celebrations will be held at Liberty Chowk, Gulberg. Entry will be open for the general public.
Commissioner directed the district administration to visit the Liberty venue under the Lahore District Administration Committee. She said that all departments should focus on the venue area as per the arrangements of rostrum, best traffic and parking arrangements must be made for the event.
