QUETTA: Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Judge Muhammad Ali Mubeen has approved the bail application of Balochistan National Party (BNP) chief and former Chief Minister Sardar Akhtar Mengal.

Sardar Akhtar Mengal was present in court at the time of the hearing of the bail application. After hearing arguments from the lawyers, the ATC judge approved the bail petition against surety bonds of Rs50,000.

Sajid Tareen Advocate and Agha Hassan Baloch Advocate represented Akhtar Mengal in the case. An FIR had been registered against him last year over a rally held at Shahwani Stadium. Speaking to the media outside the court, Mengal sarcastically commented that the situation in Balochistan is currently “normal,” adding that decisions are made from above. He remarked that those who conduct elections and determine their results are the same powers before whom everyone is helpless.

He said that people should ask the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) whether it is truly their party or belongs to someone else. In response to a question, he said he does not know who Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar is or from where he was elected.
