ISLAMABAD: Electricity consumers across Pakistan could see another increase in their monthly bills after the power utilities asked Nepra to allow it collection of an additional Rs0.82/unit on account of fuel cost adjustment (FCA) for May 2026, citing higher generation costs.
The proposed increase of Rs0.8173 per unit is above the reference fuel cost of Rs8.4315 per unit approved by the regulator. If endorsed, the adjustment would be passed on to consumers of power distribution companies nationwide and, under the government’s uniform tariff policy, to customers of K-Electric as well.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has fixed June 30, 2026, for a public hearing on the request before issuing its final determination.
