LAHORE: The 35th Day of the Winter Meeting 2025–26 at the Lahore Race Club produced a dramatic evening of racing, with six of the seven contests ending in upsets. Only the May Cup, the feature race of the card, saw the favourite Chasing Eden live up to expectations.
Except for Chasing Eden’s triumph in the May Cup, favourites struggled across the board, making the 35th Winter Meeting one of the most unpredictable race days of the season.
The opening race set the tone for the evening as Coach House Pari stunned the field, followed by Sampras and Amnie Power. Favourite Sea Of Class failed to deliver, while Silent Melody and Haseeb Thrill also featured among the placings.
Another upset unfolded when Fakhr-e-Sardar claimed victory, ahead of Lucky Macs. Favourite Zaman Sahib had to settle for third, while Zindagi, Sher Dil, and other top contenders failed to deliver.
The surprises continued as Emerging Star took the honours, beating Raja The Great and Fayyum. Favourite Piyari could not live up to billing, finishing behind low rated participants. In a fiercely contested sprint, Tomorrowland emerged victorious, followed by Haseeb Gladiator and Wynx. Favourite New York City faltered, alongside Ex Gambler.
The feature event finally brought joy to punters as favourite Chasing Eden delivered a commanding performance. Mayya finished second, with Kamal third. Maverick and Ghuroor were also in contention, but Eden’s class proved decisive.
The sixth race saw Present Queen upset the odds, beating favourite Queen of Pharoah. Crown Pharoah, Ameera, and Daaku followed, as the unpredictability of the evening continued.
The finale capped off the day of surprises, with Chaman storming home ahead of Gul-e-Jalal and Ustrana Love. Favourite Moni Ka Rehman was denied, while Cinderella’s Dream also missed out on the top spots.
