Islamabad: COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) on Tuesday launched a comprehensive Life Skills Program at its Islamabad Campus, with a core objective to primarily enable staff and students to acquire alternative career skills and improve their professional and socio-economic prospects.

Envisioned by Rector Prof. Dr. Raheel Qamar, the initiative reflects a strategic institutional focus on equipping staff grade employees with practical, market-relevant competencies that extend beyond their existing roles.

The program is designed not only to support organizational efficiency but also to create pathways for income diversification and long-term career mobility among staff and students.

Addressing the ceremony, Dr. Raheel stated that CUI is transitioning into a new digital phase, where a majority of administrative and academic services are being shifted to digital platforms.

This transformation across the country, he noted, requires the development of new skill sets and adaptive roles across the University. He emphasized that existing human resources will be given priority in accessing these training opportunities, ensuring that the current workforce remains central to the University’s evolution.

He added that such structured upskilling can serve as a replicable model for other institutions in Pakistan. The program, announced earlier in April, received an overwhelming response, with over 500 employees registering in a diverse set of courses.

These include Use of Generative AI for Enhancing Office Productivity, Digital Influence and marketing, cybersecurity, defensive driving skills, filing income tax returns, and chinese language.

In addition, hands-on training is being offered in areas such as woodworking, painting, HVAC and air-conditioning repair, and solar system installation. All courses are being offered free of cost, underscoring the University’s commitment to inclusive professional development.
