PAL announces Kamal-e-Fun Award

Islamabad: Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) on Wednesday announced the Kamal-e-Fun and National Literary Awards for 2024.

Prominent writer/poet Atta ul Haq Qasmi has been nominated for the Kamal-e-Fun Award 2024. The decision for the Kamal-e-Fun Award 2024 was taken by a panel of distinguished writers and scholars.

The jury included Kishwar Naheed, Dr. Inam-ul-Haq Javed, Muhammad Izhar-ul-Haq, Mahmood Sham, Asghar Nadeem Syed, Shoaib Bin Aziz, Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir, Muhammad Hafeez Khan, Yasmeen Hameed, Muhammad Hameed Shahid, Dr. Abaseen Yousafzai, Dr. Sher Mehrani, Dr. Bezan Baloch, Ahmed Hussain Mujahid and Fareeda Hafeez.

The meeting was presided over by Kishwar Naheed. Kamal-e-Fun Award is the highest literary award in the field of literature for recognition of lifetime’s achievement in creative and research work. The amount of this award is Rs1,000,000. The award was instituted by the Pakistan Academy of Letters in 1997.

On this occasion, Dr. Najeeba Arif, chairperson, Pakistan Academy of Letters also announced National Literary Awards for the year 2024. Each recipient of the National Literary Awards will receive a cash prize of Rs200,000. To promote literature in Gilgit Baltistan languages the Pakistan Academy of Letters has included languages of Gilgit-Baltistan in the list of National Literary Awards from 2024 under the title of Gilgit-Baltistan Literary Award.
