Taking action on intelligence they received, the Sindh Rangers have arrested three men allegedly associated with the Qadiro gang for their alleged involvement in multiple incidents of robbery and street crime in Karachi.
According to a Rangers spokesperson, Ghulam Qadir, son of Ali Shiraz, Haris Nawaz, alias Golden, son of Haq Nawaz Baloch, and Lareeb, son of Anwar, were apprehended during an operation in Lyari. During the operation, Rangers recovered five mobile phones, cash and two motorbikes used in criminal activities.
Initial investigations revealed that the arrested suspects, along with their accomplices, were involved in numerous incidents of robbery, street crime, illegal arms trade, and snatching of motorbikes and mobile phones in areas including Lyari, Garden, Seaview, II Chundrigar Road and Malir.
During interrogation, the main suspect, Qadir, admitted that he, along with his associates, had snatched approximately 80 motorbikes and 250 mobile phones from people at gunpoint, and had later sold them and earned around Rs3.5 million.
He also admitted to purchasing illegal weapons at low prices and selling them to criminals for profit. Police records show that Qadir had already been arrested twice. Suspect Nawaz disclosed that besides snatching motorbikes, he dismantled stolen bikes and sold their parts in different areas at lower prices, earning separate wages for the task.
Efforts are under way to arrest other members of the gang. The arrested suspects, along with the recovered items, have been handed over to police for further legal proceedings. Rangers have appealed to the public to report criminal elements by contacting the nearest Rangers checkpoint, calling the helpline 1101 or sending information via WhatsApp, making the assurance that the informants’ identities would be kept confidential.
