Wasa ordered to improve city’s drainage system

LAHORE : Deputy Commissioner Lahore Capt (retd) M Ali Ijaz has issued strict instructions, stating that Wasa must immediately further improve the drainage system across the city and utilize all resources so that citizens do not face any difficulties.

DC Lahore issued these directions while chairing a meeting regarding drainage, restoration of urban infrastructure, and public safety.

The meeting was attended by Wasa MD, Chief Officer MCL, ADC Finance, and other relevant officers. During the meeting, DC Lahore was given a detailed briefing on the current drainage situation across the city and the elimination of ponds.

DC Lahore clarified that the district administration was fully active in the field for the cleaning of ponds and public safety, and the elimination of ponds from urban and rural areas of Lahore was continuing as a mission.

DC Lahore ordered the officers to ensure the installation of protective fencing at public places and drainage sites at all costs to avoid any untoward incidents, as no compromise will be made on the safety of citizens.

He further added that the vision of the CM Punjab was to provide a clean and safe environment to the citizens; in this regard, the elimination of ponds has become indispensable for the restoration of urban infrastructure.

Ali Ijaz expressed his commitment that the district administration is ensuring the elimination of standing water from every corner of provincial capital and the equal development of urban and rural areas is the top administrative priority. All necessary safety arrangements were being finalised in this regard to provide relief to the public.
