Islamabad: Authorities have issued a comprehensive traffic management plan in the federal capital in light of the arrival of foreign delegations, with significant road closures and diversions expected across key routes.
According to the plan, the Red Zone and Extended Red Zone will remain completely closed to all types of traffic. Additionally, the Expressway from Korral to Zero Point will be fully closed for vehicular movement, while traffic on Srinagar Highway may be suspended at intervals.
The entry of all heavy traffic into Islamabad from any direction has been strictly prohibited. Transporters have been advised to avoid traveling toward the capital during these days to prevent inconvenience.
Residents have been urged to follow the alternate routes outlined by the administration. Commuters from sectors G-5, G-6, G-7, F-6, and F-7 traveling to Rawalpindi should use Margalla Road via 9th Avenue.
Traffic moving toward Zero Point via Faisal Avenue will be diverted to 9th Avenue. In case of closure between Zero Point and Korral Chowk, motorists can use Srinagar Highway to 9th Avenue, then proceed via Stadium Road, Murree Road (Chandni Chowk), and Rawal Road to reach Korral.
If Club Road is closed from Park Road, traffic will be diverted toward Tramri Chowk. Citizens traveling between Bhara Kahu and Rawalpindi are advised to use Korang Road, Bani Gala, and Lehtrar Road. Those commuting between Rawalpindi Saddar and Islamabad can use Colonel Sher Khan Road via Fakhr-e-Alam Road or 9th Avenue.
Diversion for heavy vehicles traveling on GT Road: Traffic from Peshawar to Lahore should divert at Taxila to the Motorway via Chakri Interchange, then proceed through Chak Beli Road to rejoin GT Road at Rawat. Traffic from Lahore to Peshawar should follow the reverse route via Rawat, Chak Beli Road, Chakri Interchange, and the motorway toward Taxila.
