LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Housing and Urban Development Bilal Yaseen said that due to the rapidly growing urban population, modern and sustainable housing models are being introduced.
Green buildings, environmentally friendly construction, and energy-efficient homes will be promoted. Punjab govt has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting low-cost housing projects on a priority basis. He said this while addressing the participants at an international conference organised by PHATA.
He stated that the CM Punjab, upon assuming office, had promised to provide housing to the common man. Initiatives such as ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ and ‘Apni Zameen Apna Ghar’ have turned these dreams into reality. The international recognition of the ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ programme by global institutions is encouraging and sets an example for others. He further added that investment opportunities in the housing sector are being created through public-private partnerships. The provision of houses for low-income groups through interest-free loans and easy installment plans is progressing rapidly.
On this occasion, DG PHATA Sikandar Zeeshan stated that collaboration with the banking sector is essential to make housing finance more accessible. Conference participants contributed to strategies aimed at overcoming the housing crisis through partnerships with international organisations. The participants also stressed learning from international experiences and adopting modern technologies. A large number of representatives from global institutions and organisations attended the conference.
