Model Village Programme: Uplift work starts in 485 villages

LAHORE: Minister for Local Government Zeeshan Rafique has said that Model Village is an important programme of Punjab government under which work has started on development schemes in 485 villages in the first phase.

The provincial minister shared this information while presiding over a review meeting regarding the Model Village Programme held at the Civil Secretariat on Wednesday. Punjab Minister for Local Government said that in the first phase, 4 million people will benefit from water supply, sewerage and pavement of streets under the Model Village Programme. 

"The Punjab government has approved Rs60 billion for the initial phase. For the first time, children’s parks will be built in the villages and street lights will also be installed", he observed. 

He said that the restoration of traditional ponds in villages is a special component of the Model Village Programme.
