LAHORE: Minister for Housing and Urban Development Bilal Yasin formally inaugurated an e-portal in Wasa Punjab on Wednesday. Chairman Punjab Wasa Chaudhry Sher Ali Khan, Parliamentary Secretary Barrister Sultan Bajwa, and Secretary Housing Noorul Amin Mengal were also present on the occasion.
The minister said the e-portal has been launched in Wasa Punjab to ensure timely resolution of public complaints.Digital monitoring of field operations across all districts has been ensured for the first time in Punjab, he said. Through the complaint management system and the 1,334 helpline, public complaints will now be addressed promptly. The portal will also enable monitoring of manhole geo-tagging and an open manhole detection system. In the initial phase, more than 3,000 open manholes have already been identified across the province. The minister added that sewerage lines and disposal stations are being constructed on an emergency basis in 15 districts to improve drainage.
The provision of 937 modern machines and vehicles across all districts will help ensure timely drainage and resolution of daily issues. He also highlighted that CM Punjab has allocated unprecedented funds in Punjab’s history to tackle urban flooding risks.
Secretary Noorul Amin stated that 3,000 water filtration plants will be installed in schools across Punjab. The government is taking emergency measures to protect citizens from diseases caused by contaminated water. The provision of clean water will play a vital role in reducing the burden on hospitals. The first phase of this initiative will be completed this year, he said.
