ISLAMABAD: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and National Highway Authority (NHA) on Tuesday signed an agreement to develop two sections of M6 Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorway under a public-private partnership (PPP) model.

According to an X post, the ADB’s Country Director for Pakistan Emma Fan and Member PPP NHA Ijaz Ahmed signed the agreement.

The project will bridge the missing link in Pakistan’s North-South high-speed road connectivity, streamline logistics, reduce travel time and enhance trade flows across the country.

The ADB will provide advisory support, covering project feasibility studies, developing a bankable PPP structure and facilitating transparent procurement processes to attract private sector expertise, thereby, achieving commercial and financial closure.

The project includes building a 120-km six-lane motorway with modern tolling, traffic management and safety systems starting from Hyderabad. It’s a critical step toward completing the Peshawar-Karachi Motorway corridor.
