RAWALPINDI: The sisters of former prime minister Imran Khan, accompanied by senior leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), staged a protest sit-in near the Adiala jail on Tuesday evening after prison authorities denied them a scheduled meeting with the incarcerated party founder.
Despite Tuesday being the designated day for visitation, Aleema Khan, Dr Uzma Khan and Noreen Khan were stopped by police officials on Adiala Road, preventing them from reaching the jail premises. The group, which also included prominent PTI figures such as Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Babar Awan and Intizar Hussain Panjotha, remained at the site well beyond official visiting hours in protest against the move. The demonstration continued until approximately 9:45pm and concluded only when the sisters departed for Islamabad and Lahore.
