LAHORE : Measures taken across Punjab under the leadership of DIG Traffic Punjab M Waqas Nazir to improve traffic discipline have started yielding positive results, with a significant reduction in fatal accidents reported.

According to a Traffic Police spokesperson, fatal accidents across the province have decreased by 26 percent this year compared to last year. A consistent decline has been observed in urban areas, while no fatal accidents have been reported in seven districts during the current year.

Additionally, 13 districts recorded fewer than two fatal accidents.

In the provincial capital Lahore, a 21 percent reduction in fatal accidents has been recorded. Officials attributed this improvement to effective strategies and timely actions by the traffic police, which led to a notable decrease in accidents across 20 districts.

DIG Traffic M Waqas Nazir appreciated officers who showed strong performance, while expressing displeasure over the performance of officers in underperforming districts. He stated that making Punjab free from accidents remains a top priority.
