‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ plan: Over Rs191bn interest-free loans given to 135,410 families, says minister

LAHORE : Provincial Minister for Housing and Urban Development, Bilal Yaseen, met with Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA) DG Sikandar Zeeshan, where a detailed briefing was given on the ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ programme and departmental matters.

It was highlighted as a major achievement that interest-free loans worth over Rs191 billion have been issued to low-income individuals in Punjab for house construction.

Provincial Minister Bilal Yaseen stated that funds have so far been provided to 135,410 families for building their homes, and the completion of more than 91,000 houses has already set a record.

The briefing revealed that 42,000 houses currently under construction will also be completed within the current fiscal year. Additionally, interest-free loans will soon be ensured for more than 12,000 families. The minister stated that the recovery of over Rs10 billion in monthly installments is a practical proof of the programme’s transparency. He emphasised that the dream of owning a home has become a reality for low-income individuals. More than 1.176 million people have applied for loans, reflecting trust in government initiatives.
