A speeding water tanker claimed another life in Karachi after running over a pedestrian near Perfume Chowk in the Gulistan-e-Jauhar area on Saturday.
The victim was critically injured in the accident and was being shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medical treatment when he succumbed to his injuries.
The tragic accident caused chaos at the scene with eyewitnesses expressing shock and distress. The enraged locals set the water tanker on fire as the driver managed to flee the scene.
The Sharea Faisal police reached the location soon after receiving the information. The fire brigade were also called in, and a fire tender from the Gulistan-e-Jauhar fire station managed to extinguish the fire that had engulfed the front portion of the tanker. Police said the identity of the deceased had not yet been confirmed. The body was shifted to the JPMC for legal formalities. Further investigations into the incident are under way.A
